A domestic worker currently residing in the Western Cape completed her LLB degree using her earnings as a SweepSouth domestic worker to go through law school.

Babra Gurupira, moved from Zimbabwe to South Africa in search of better studying opportunities.

According to her employer Actor Tim Theron “She’s clearly a disciplined hard worker. After all, you don’t work and study this hard if you’re not. Her English proficiency is impressive and it was clear that she has a good head on her shoulders. We got the impression that she is working with a goal in mind.”

Gurupira completed her studies in October, attaining a couple of distinctions along the way. She only needs to complete her articles for her career in Law to start moving.

Tim Theron and his wife decided to help her by sharing her story on their social media accounts. The couple got an overwhelming response, with several people responding by tagging law firms, lawyers as well as requesting for Gurupira’s CV.
