Somerset West police made a drug bust worth R1 million all thanks to the efforts of heroic sniffer dog Zeke.
The Metro Police sniffer dog led police to drugs that were in a courier vehicle during a routine road block in the area.
The discovery by Zeke led police to a residence in Somerset West where the police impounded several quantities of drugs.
Among the contents of the drug bust were, 24 jars of magic mushrooms and dagga, three parcels of dagga, 55 syringes, an unknown amount of hashish, 190 small boxes of mushroom cakes, a piece of cannabis fudge, 5 MDMA tablets and seven dagga plants.
Metro Police spokesperson Ruth Solomons said the street value of the drugs was roughly R1 million.
The police arrested and detained two men aged 22 and 56 as well as a 57-year-old woman at Somerset West police station for charges of possession, drug dealing and cultivating illegal substances.
Ruth Solomons said Zeke was well on his way to be one of the K9 unit’s top performers.
