You get paid better in Cape Town compared to Joburg

Cape Town also took the top spot for the ‘best city to land a job in’, recording 14 023 advertised vacancies for January.

An official report created by job search engine Adzuna in January 2019 claims that Cape Town is the ‘best paying city’ in South Africa, followed by Johannesburg.

Cape Town is the ‘best paying city’ in South Africa, with an average salary of R374 173  advertised for January.

Johannesburg came in second place with an average salary of R359 285  advertised for January.

The Free state ranked as the worst paying city in South Africa, with an average pay of R210 837.

“As far as salaries are concerned, it seems like it doesn’t really pay to live and work in the Free State since average salaries here are much lower when compared to the national average,” says the report.

The job search engine, collected data to ascertain the best and worst paying areas in the country, analyzing over 140 000 live jobs posted on their website, ranking 50 cities and towns during their study.

The study comprised of comparisons on job vacancies and advertised salaries in the different location in the month of January 2019.
