Worcester mom disciplines child by chaining her for 3 days

She chained up her 16-year-old foster child after discovering a fake Facebook account with pictures of the 16-year-old and her biological daughter

A Worcester mother appeared in court on Thursday facing two counts of child abuse. The 54-year-old women is said to have chained up one of her children for 3 days and  physically assaulted the other.

The woman has 1 biological child and fosters 11 children.

She chained up her 16-year-old foster child after discovering a Facebook account with pictures of the 16-year-old and her 15-year-old biological daughter. She described the page as “lust inducing.”

The Worcester family violence, child protection and sexual offences (FCS) unit said it was discovered that the woman’s 15-year-old biological daughter had been battered on a daily basis.

The Western Cape Social Development MEC Albert Fritz said that his department had sent three social workers and a supervisor to attend to the children after receiving information on Saturday 26 January from SAPS that 12 children in the Scherpenheuwel needed assistance.

Meanwhile the woman’s children aged between two and 11-year-old have been taken to a place of safety.
