A disabled woman and two children have died in a fire in Bonteheuwel, Western Cape.
The incident happened early on Sunday morning.
In statement on Sunday 6 June the City of Cape Town Fire and Rescue Services said they received an emergency call at 1:40 in the morning and dispatched crews from Epping, Belhar and Gugulethu to the scene of the incident in Oliehout Road.
“A woman in a wheelchair and two boys were killed in a fire in Bonteheuwel during the early hours of this morning, Sunday June 6,”
“Firefighters found two structures engulfed in flames and managed to contain and extinguish the fire by 2.52am.”
They said that they made the grim discovery of the bodies of a woman and two boys under the debris, “while one woman and a boy were treated for burn wounds and transported to a nearby hospital”.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
