Two Cape traffic officers fired after assisting an illegal car spinning frenzy on the N2

"They put our good name into disrepute and we are very serious about the good name of our department."

Western Cape Traffic Chief Kenny Africa has revealed that two Cape Town officers have been fired following an incident in which they held up traffic to allow drivers to perform wheel spins and “doughnuts” outside the Peregrine Farmstall in November last year.

The two officers were seen in a video assisting an illegal car spinning hysteria on the N2 near Grabouw.

The officer were suspended last year pending disciplinary action but now following the final hearing, both have been fired.

“There was a disciplinary hearing. Both the officers were suspended and last week the outcome of the hearing was that both officers were dismissed,” said Kenny Africa.

He added that the traffic department is serious about dealing with corrupt officers and encourages citizens to report any incidents.
