The Western Cape police have allegedly been ordered to further investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of Anele “Nelli” Tembe.

Tembe fell to her death from a tenth-floor room at the Pepperclub Hotel in Cape Town in the early hours of 11 April.

According to City Press the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) referred the docket back to the police for further investigation after alleged discrepancies were identified.

The initial investigation was concluded on May 25.

Western Cape police spokesperson Joseph Swartbooi only told City Press that an inquest docket was registered for further investigation: ” The investigation into the matter continues.”

NPA sources said the case was referred back because it was a suicide investigation however the police had approached the matter as if there was a murder suspect.
