Western Cape Minister for Transport, Daylin Mitchell is set to meet with taxi leaders over the ongoing taxi protests in Nyanga.

Mitchel is expected to meet with the leaders of SANTACO on Thursday.

Since the unrest broke out last week, several busses, government vehicles and private vehicles have been set alight and stoned, allegedly by incensed taxi operators.

On Wednesday seven vehicles were torched, two belonging to the City of Cape Town and five private vehicles.

Two Golden Arrow buses were also stoned.

The bus company said that 75 of its buses have been stoned since Friday.

Protest action started last week following law enforcement operations where a number of taxis were impounded for operating illegally.
