Alleged underworld kingpin Nafiz Modack and three other suspects were arrested on Thursday afternoon in connection with the murder of Anti-Gang Unit detective Charl Kinnear.
The four suspects were arrested following a high-speed car chase in Cape Town.
The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) said the suspects were apprehended by the National Task Team near Century City.
Hawks spokesperson Colonel Katlego Mogale said members of the task team had noticed the suspects in Century View, however they had sped off when approached.
A car chase ensued and the suspects were cornered at Sable Road.
Two vehicles were searched, a Mercedes and a Toyota Hilux. Three unlicensed firearms were found in the vehicles.
The four men, aged between 29 and 49, were arrested on charges relating to the attempted murder of Booth, the murder of Kinnear, and gang-related extortion, kidnapping and intimidation.
Kinnear was gunned down in front of his house in Bishop Lavis in September last year.
