Watch: FF+ Western Cape premier candidate challenges DA to sell state land to coloured and black people at 1994 prices

How about a discount DA? You capitalists. How about saying that state land will be given to coloured and black people at 50% discount or at 1994 prices.

FF Plus’ premier candidate for Western Cape, Peter Marais has challenged the DA led Western Cape government to sell state land to coloured and black people at 50% discount or at 1994 prices.

Marais said this whilst speaking to a journalist who had asked him on his position on the redistribution of land to which he responded that the land issue can only be addressed if everyone is “equally satisfied”.

Marais went on to offer a solution in which he suggested that state and undeveloped land should be made available to landless people who could not buy land due to the Apartheid era Group Areas Act. Addressing journalist, Marais said,

How about a discount DA? You capitalists. How about saying that state land will be given to coloured and black people at 50% discount or at 1994 prices.

Pressed on whether this was the FF Plus’ official position, Marais said this was merely his personal view.
