Update: Case of negligent driving registered after crash leaves 1 learner dead, 11 others seriously injured

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding an accident that left 1 learner dead, and more than 20 other learners injured.

It is reported that the minibus taxi, overloaded, with 22 school pupils crashed into a bollard in front of Parliament after allegedly jumping a red robot.

City of Cape Town traffic spokesperson Richard Coleman said 22 high schoolchildren were injured, 11 of them seriously.

“A case of reckless and or negligent driving has been registered,” Police spokesperson Andrè Traut.
