AfriForum’s head of Community Safety, Ian Cameron has revealed that two tourists were been attacked in Wemmershoek, in Cape Winelands District Municipality.
In a tweet earlier this morning Cameron said the tourists were attacked by three suspects in their cottage on a farm.
The nationality and the identity of the tourists has not been revealed.
At the moment no further details are available, other than that no firearms were stolen.
Attacks on tourists seem to be worsening amidst fears of the occurrences putting a dent on the tourism sector in the Western Cape.
The Western Cape is South Africa’s most developed tourism region. The tourism industry in the province has grown faster and created more jobs than any other industry.
