Teenage twin sisters Phumza and Pakama Yantolo from Khayalitsha, will represent South Africa at the African youth fencing championship in Ghana from from February 24 to 29, 2020.

The twin sisters have already represented South Africa internationally before in the Cadet and Junior Commonwealth Fencing Champions that were held in July 2018 in New Castle, England.

The pair developed interest in the sport in 2010 after they were spotted by coach, Jenny O’Hanlon at a Khayelitsha swimming pool.

Jenny O’Hanlon introduced the girls to fencing and other sporting codes and the twins have never looked back since then.

The youth fencers are ranked in the SA senior top 10 in the epee category.
