Tweede Nuwe Jaar minstrel parade postponed to June
The Klopse parade traditionally takes place a day or two after New Year’s Day and sees thousands of minstrels from all areas across Cape Town performing in the streets of the city centre.
Nevertheless the festivities could not take place in January 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Kaapse Klopse Karnival Association and the City of Cape Town decided to postpone the event to 16 June provisionally.
The event has now been cancelled due to a surge in Covid-19 infections and amended Level 2 lockdown regulations announced on Sunday.
