Tragedy at Mnandi Beach: 31 year-old woman drowns

Man rescued after falling a cliff near The Point

National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) recovered the body of a woman who went missing at Mnandi Beach yesterday. The NSRI responded after being activated by Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) following reports of a drowning in progress at Mnandi Beach.

The 31 year- old woman from Philippi was with a group of 9 people and was reported missing at around  7am.

According to Craig Lambion NSRI spokesperson “On arrival NSRI rescue swimmers recovered an adult female, aged 31, from Philippi, from the surf line and CPR efforts were commenced, but after all efforts were exhausted the female was declared deceased.”

An inquest docket has been opened by the Police.
