The Western Cape has published it’s Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) procurement details in the interests of transparency.
While speaking during the budget debate in the provincial legislature on Wednesday, Finance and Economic Opportunities MEC David Maynier said:
“We have to do everything we can so that the vultures do not settle in the Western Cape,”
Maynier said the Western Cape would be releasing its website’s regular standardised reports on PPE procurement on a monthly and quarterly basis.
The report details all PPE procurement and expenditure in the province in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, including the PPE related transactions made by all provincial departments from April to June this year.
The issue of PPE procurement transparency has taken centre stage in the country after allegations of corruption have been leveled against several government officials.
