The Steenberg community policing forum (CPF) has called on gangs to agree to a ceasefire over the holiday period, the CPF says the bloodshed over this holiday period has been deplorable.
A man was murdered in the early hours of Tuesday morning on Prince George Drive in Lavender Hill.
According to CPF’s chair Grant Walbraght the man was apparently shot dead by two gunmen.
“According to the information at my disposal, two guys shot and wounded this person with multiple shots. He was dead on the scene.”
Walbraught called on gangs to put down their weapons by agreeing to a ceasefire:
“We are appealing to these gangs to at least put down their weapons. It’s Christmas time, it’s school holidays. It’s a time of peace and goodwill and they are killing each other.”
In the meantime the Cape Town Anti-Gang unit has arrested two suspects linked to the murder of a five-year-old boy in Lavender Hill on Saturday.
