Search for missing Cape Town man called off after body spotted from helicopter

The search for Ken Stephen, a trail runner who has been missing since Monday 6 July 2020 has been called off.

This after a helicopter spotted a body to the right of Platteklip Gorge, close Africa Amphitheater on Table mountain.

It is still unclear at this stage whether the 36-year-old amateur athlete is still alive.

A team is being assembled and will be sent up the mountain to retrieve the body in the next few hours.

According to Trailswp, Stephen’s car was found parked at the bottom of Platteklip Gorge. His cellphone signal was last picked up near Nettleton Road.

The fact that his phone was traced to another location has given rise to the suspicion that Stephen might have been attacked on the mountain.
