Winner of R232 million record PowerBall jackpot finally comes forward

"The winner will be given free financial [advice] and four months' psychological counselling, which Ithuba provides to all winners who win more than R50 000," Mabuza added.

The person who won the R232 131 750.69 record PowerBall jackpot last Tuesday has come forth.

Ithuba corporate relations executive Khensani Mabuza told News24 on Tuesday morning that “The winner has come forward,”.

Mabuza said, the winner is “overwhelmed and completely in shock”.

She said Ithuba cannot divulge more information about the winner, except that the winner has indeed come forward and the organization is following its normal processes.

“The winner will be given free financial [advice] and four months’ psychological counselling, which Ithuba provides to all winners who win more than R50 000,” Mabuza added.

The winning ticket was bought in Tygerdal, the winner played a manual selection for R22.50.

Only one ticket won the jackpot, which was nearly R10m more than the estimated amount.

The lottery operator said total sales for the draw came to more than R74m.
