Video footage suggests weekend blaze was arson

A case has been laid for investigation with SAPS.

The City of Cape Town is investigating the possibility that the fire that broke out yesterday, below Tafelberg Road on the slopes of Table Mountain was arson.

This after residents and witnesses submitted video footage with information that suggests that the fire was actively started by someone.

Two houses where gutted by the fire while three others where damaged. Moreover the fire destroyed at least six cars as it moved along the mountain slope.

The City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security JP Smith said a case has been laid for investigation with SAPS.
