Stage 2 load shedding begins in Cape Town today

Load Shedding stages depend on the extent of the shortage of generation capacity to meet the country’s electricity demand, with stage 1 being the least serious, and stage 4 being the most serious.

The City of Cape Town announced this morning that stage 2 load shedding will be in place from 12pm today and affect certain areas of Cape Town.

The last time Cape Town experienced load shedding was in 2018 just before Christmas.

Load Shedding stages depend on the extent of the shortage of generation capacity to meet the country’s electricity demand, with stage 1 being the least serious, and stage 4 being the most serious.

Due to technical issues there can be minor changes in the load shedding area boundaries from time to time.

A schedule detailing times for load shedding and the areas has been released.

The Mother City is in store for more load shedding , according to the schedule.
