Taxi driver shot and killed in Milnerton

The Congress of Democratic Taxi Associations (Codeta) said this latest shooting is not related to taxi wars.

No arrests have been made after a taxi diver was shot and killed at the Joe Slovo taxi rank in Milnerton on Tuesday.

Police spokesperson Joseph Swartbooi, said police are investigating a case of murder after a 56-year-old man was found on his back with gunshot wounds to his face and chest.

“The unknown suspects fled and are yet to be arrested. The motive for the attack is possibly taxi related. The victim was declared dead on the scene by the medical personnel,” Swartbooi said.

The Congress of Democratic Taxi Associations (Codeta) has however assured commuters that this latest shooting is not related to taxi wars.

The victim was a member of Ysterplaat Taxi Association, which is a Codeta affiliate.
