3 notorious crowbar burglars were finally apprehended on Monday after their car crushed following a hot pursuit with police and security companies.
Table view police were following on a tip off that a car previously used in house break-ins was seen in Blaauwberg Road. They found the car a white VW Polo, and tried to establish communication with the occupants, who in turn drove into a security car whilst trying to flee arrest.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana said “The vehicle was approached with caution and the occupants were instructed to exit the vehicle. The vehicle was searched and officers discovered a flat-screen TV, other electronic devices and jewelry inside the vehicle. The registration number of the vehicle did not match the license disc.”
Items found in the vehicle were traced back to a house break-in in Flamingo Vlei. The vehicle was also connected to other break-ins in Bellville.
Suspects will appear in the Cape Town Magistrates’ Court after they are charged.
