Stellies student who urinated on peer's belongings suspended, faces possible expulsion

Stellenbosch University has suspended the white student who was caught urinating on a black student’s belongings.

Stellenbosch University has now instituted an investigation into the matter.

The University said that expulsion and/or criminal charges are not excluded from the possible available options, based on the investigation’s findings.

The University’s student affairs director, Dr. Choice Makhetha said he is confident the justice will prevail.

“The investigation will tell us in detail, we also have to look at all angles around this issue what motivated this because it is totally not acceptable and once, we have all the facts on the table and certain that what was said was discriminatory, we have to deal with that.”

“We do not condone racism, sexism and when it happens, we must act decisively through the process of the university,” Dr. Makhetha said.

The perpetrator has since offered an apology.
