Son and friend on trial for mother's murder

Christopher Geldenhuys (20) allegedly murdered his mother with his friend Joshua Davies (19).

Geldenhuys’s mother Natasija (44) was employed as a professional officer by the City of Cape Town and held a master’s degree in linguistics.

Geldenhuys and Davies were arrested shortly after his mother’s body was discovered in the bedroom of her home in Boston, Bellville on Sunday.

Earlier reports by Nertwerk 24 said that Christopher claimed to have discovered his mother’s dead body with several stab wounds and called the police following the discovery.

Natasija’s husband and Christopher’s father, André Geldenhuys, was reportedly away on a business trip at the time of the murder.

Geldenhuys and Davies appeared in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 1 December, and are expected to make their next court appearance on 9 December.

The legal representatives for the co-accused requested that they be detained in the hospital section of Goodwood prison, as they are both on medication for chronic illnesses.
