Six youthful suspects were on Thursday arrested for drug dealing and possession of an illegal fire with ammunition in two separate incidents, the Western Cape police has said.
Acting on a community tip-off, Police Spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut said members attached to the Muizenberg Crime Prevention Unit pursued information of possible drug dealing in Harmony Road in Vrygrond, near Muizenberg, on Thursday night.
In the first incident, the police arrested 28-year-old man who was found in possession of 59 dagga sticks and 38 Mandrax tablets.
During the same patrol, the Police unit reacted to another tip-off of a firearm being kept at a house at Village Heights. After a search, an unlicensed 7.65 pistol with eight rounds of ammunition was discovered.
5 more suspects were subsequently arrested and Traut had this to say,
Three male suspects, aged 18, 18 and 19, and two female suspects, aged 21 and 22, were arrested. Once charged, they will make a court appearance in Muizenberg to face a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm.
