A heatwave is expected over the north-eastern parts of the Western Cape and northern parts of Eastern Cape on Wednesday, according to the South African Weather Service (SAWS). There is also an alert for extremely high fire danger in the north-western and central parts of the Northern Cape as well as the extreme western parts of the North-West. Various other weather information is provided, such as expected temperatures, UVB sunburn index, and wind conditions. People are urged to take certain precautions to protect themselves and their families from the heatwave, such as staying hydrated and avoiding direct sunlight.
ER24 has provided tips to help beat the heatwave such as staying well hydrated, keeping a close eye on babies, the elderly and children, ensuring pets have a cool place to relax and cool, clean water to drink, wearing the appropriate clothing and using sunscreen, limiting participation in outdoor activities, and ensuring safety and supervision when around and in a pool.
