SAWS issues another warning for the Western Cape ahead of cold front

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued another warning for the Western Cape ahead of a cold front that is expected to pass over the Western Cape on Tuesday.

SAWS said the cold front will affect the Western Cape from 6:00 until 17:00 on Tuesday.

“Ahead of the cold front strong (50-70km/h) & gusting (75-85km/h) north-westerly interior winds are expected over the southern high ground of Namakwa District (Northern Cape) and eastern parts of Cape Winelands and Central Karoo Districts (Western Cape) on Tuesday (27 July 2021)” SAWS said.

Impacts

  • Localised damage to formal and informal settlements is possible.
  • Increased travel times are likely and high sided vehicles may be at risk of falling over as a result of cross winds particularly on the N1.
