A man hunt has been launched by the South African Police Service (SAPS) following a farm robbery in the Phillipi area, which left 2 people dead on Sunday.
According to Western Cape police a farmer and his son were approached by 10 men while they were carrying out maintenance work on the farm. An undisclosed amount of money was forcefully taken from the farmer at gunpoint . After which the farmer his son and workers were forced into a store room.
A farm worker was shot in a scuffle that arose during the incident and died on the way to the hospital. One suspect was also killed, whilst two suspects were arrested.
The remaining suspects fled in a white Toyota Avanza vehicle and a white Volkswagen Golf; however a Volkswagen was subsequently seized. The incident is currently under investigation. Police spokes person Sergeant Noyoliso Rwexana said;
“SAPS forces on the ground have launched a manhunt for the outstanding suspects with the assistance of their air wing”
