State owned airline SA Express will recommence its CAPE Town to Bloemfontein and Cape Town to Walvis Bay flights. The routes were suspended following the discontinuing of SA Express operations last year.
The South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) put on hold the SA Express air operators certificate and the certificates of airworthiness (CoA) of nine of the 21 aircrafts the airline was operating due to safety concerns.
The deterioration in the airline’s performance saw several executives being suspended over allegations of corruption and a tax-payer bailout of R1,2-billion was administered for the airline by government.
The airline however remains positive about the future with hopes of breaking even by the end of the 2019 financial year.
