‘Roof top’ passenger electrocuted on top of Cape Town train

"When I stopped, we realised there was a man on top of the train who had been electrocuted."

A Cape Town man was electrocuted on top of a Metro rail train travelling from Philippi station to Cape Town on Wednesday morning.

The driver of the train Vuyokazi Jaxa said he was informed by people walking on the road to stop the train as a fire was burning on top of the train.

“When I stopped, we realized there was a man on top of the train who had been electrocuted,” Jaxa said.

Philippi station was subsequently closed following the incident.
