Prominent dental practice manager Rashid Halday, was shot and killed in his own surgery Ntlazane Street, Lingelethu-West, Khayelitsha on Monday night.
Police have since launched a man-hunt for the suspects and are investigating a case of murder and robbery.
Police spokesperson, FC van Wyk says it has been reported that two unknown suspects, one armed with a firearm entered the business premises and instructed the security guard to enter the building.
“They took the gate keys and forced the security guard into one of the rooms,” he said.
The security guard is then said to have heard three gunshots, after which he discovered the 56-year-old manager was shot in the head. The victim died from his injuries at a nearby hospital.
Halday was the husband of community dentist Dr Camillah Bayat.
ANC Western Cape provincial secretary Faiez Jacobs condemned the murder. He said that the family was known for giving back to the community through supporting various initiatives.
“What is most (disturbing) is the fact that the surgery staff and patients were held up during this brutal act of cold blooded murder,” he added.
