A group of swindlers were arrested while attempting to escape with around R13 000 cash and stolen goods in an ATM scam in Pelican Park.
Law Enforcement Auxiliary officers were alerted to a vehicle involved in an ATM scam in the Pelican Park and the southern suburbs areas on Friday.
Neighbourhood watch members in the Mowbray area reported seeing the vehicle near Red Cross hospital and helped in the arrest of the criminals.
According to Cape Town ETC a representative from the City of Cape Town said:
“The vehicle was spotted in the Mowbray area, near Red Cross hospital and local Neighbourhood watch members were monitoring the vehicles movement.”
Metro police pulled the vehicle over on Klipfontein road and searched the vehicle which led to them discovering R12 960 in cash, mobile phones, caps and city of Cape Town clothing.
The three suspects were detained at Grassy Park SAPS for theft, fraud and armed robbery.
It also came to light that one of the suspects was wanted on a Strand case from late 2019 and another was wanted on a 2018 Parow Case for Armed robbery.
