Police talk down man threatening to jump from Wonki Ware's roof

A man spent all night on the roof of Wonki Ware in York Street, threatening to jump off the building after a domestic dispute.

The incident occurred on Sunday 11 April and the man finally surrendered between 05:00 and 06:00 this morning.

Two police officers are said to have negotiated with him every two hours during the night.

Southern Cape police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie told the George Herald that the man climbed into an apartment on the first floor by himself.

The man re-entered the same window where he had climbed out to climb on the roof.

Pojie said the man was taken to George Hospital and will possibly be taken from there to the neuroclinic.
