Police in Swellendam, Western Cape arrested 1 suspect and seized thousands of abalone worth an estimated street value of R3 million.
According to the police spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk Swellendam police received information from the community about a Ford Ranger that was abandoned in the area. Upon their arrival at the address, police searched the vehicle and discovered a total of 7 927 units of abalone worth an estimated street value of R3 million.
A 37 year old man was arrested after being found hiding in the bush when the area was searched out by the police. The suspect is expected to appear in court once he is charged.
