Police release Manenberg cat killings suspect

Police have released from custody the suspect arrested in connection with Manenberg’s cat killings.

Authorities said there was insufficient evidence linking the suspect to the crimes.

“A 40-year-old man has been arrested on Friday, 20 August and detained. During questioning, it was found that there was not enough evidence to link him to the crime. The suspect has since been released, and the investigation into the matter continues,” said police spokesperson Joseph Swartbooi.

The suspect was arrested on Friday after CCTV footage led authorities to the property of a man where two dogs were seized.

The man has denied being the owner of the animals.
