Police in the Western Cape arrested eight suspected armed robbers and recovered R30 000 on Sunday after they allegedly robbed a fast food outlet in Lutzville.
Western Cape police spokesperson FC van Wyk said that the robbers entered the takeaway shop and pretended to be customers.
“After being served, they held up the complainant with firearms and knives and took an undisclosed amount of cash and cellular telephone before fleeing the scene,” Van Wyk said.
Two suspects were arrested by SAPS members who were close to the scene of the incident.
The six remaining suspects were apprehended during a joint operation between police from Lutzville and Clanwilliam.
Police seized a firearm, a Toyota Quantum, a cellphone as well as cash following the arrest.
The suspects are due to appear in court soon in connection with the armed robbery.
