43-year-old Michael J. Latsky went missing on 14 May. He was last seen leaving his Somerset home on his bicycle around 17:00 hours.

Latsky’s bicycle was later recovered in Gordon’s Bay and handed back to his family.

According to Netwerk 24, police authorities launched a fresh search for Latsky in the Gordon’s Bay area from the 9th to the 11th of October.

According to the spokesperson for Somerset West police, Sergeant Suzan Jantjies, the recent search was prompted by an anonymous voice note that was received by the investigating officer, that could aid the case.

It is believed the suspected informant allegedly showed the police where the body of Latsky could be found, resulting in authorities digging up grounds in Gordon Bay and surrounds.

Sergeant Jantjies however said the search was fruitless and unsuccessful, adding that the police are continuing with the investigation.

“The police would like to appeal to the community to be more cautious about sending unverified information. These actions lead to wasteful expenditure.
