Police are investigating a triple murder and attempted murder case following a shooting incident which left three people dead and two others wounded on Saturday afternoon in Crossroads, Nyanga.

Police spokesperson Novela Potelwa said it was alleged that four men were standing on a street corner when the occupants of a minibus taxi fired shots at them.

Three died on the scene while a fourth one sustained serious injury. A woman in her thirties who was standing outside her home was hit by a stray bullet during the shooting.

Potelwa said the victims are between 25 and 33 years old.

According to a report by EWN, the incident happened while Police Minister Bheki Cele was addressing Nyanga residents at an outreach programme 2.5km away.

Police are investigating the motive for the shooting and no arrests have been made as yet.

“The perpetrators of this are yet to get arrested, detectives have initiated murder and attempted murder investigations,” said Potelwa on Sunday.
