Police in the Western Cape are investigating circumstances surrounding the robbery on a farm at Klapmuts near Paarl.
Police spokesperson, Andre Traut,says four armed suspects gained access to the house early this morning and robbed the occupants of a licensed firearm.
“Four armed suspects gained access to the house, threatened the occupants and fled with a licensed firearm. They are yet to be arrested.”
A Twitter user, Ian Cameron, shared that whilst the husband went out to local shop, 4-5 attackers smashed a window, entered the farmhouse and assaulted the wife with a blunt object.
The woman was slightly injured and two children unharmed during the robbery.
The incident follows the murder on Sunday of a 62 year old wine farmer, Stefan Smit who was gunned down on his farm Louisenhof outside Stellenbosch.
There have been no arrests in both incidents
