Cape Town police arrest man in possession of hijacked and stolen vehicles

...the Police Flying Squad received a tip-off about vehicles that were being stripped at St Barnet Crescent in Steenberg.

Police in Cape Town have arrested a 38-year- old man for possession of hijacked and stolen vehicles.

The suspect was also found in possession of five engines of stolen vehicles.

Police spokesperson, George Mjiwu, says the Police Flying Squad received a tip-off about vehicles that were being stripped at St Barnet Crescent in Steenberg.

Police discovered two Toyota bakkies and one Toyota Corolla which were hijacked in Pineland, Rondebosch and Kuilsrivier this month.

Mjiwu said the other Toyota Corolla had been reported stolen in Table View.

Flying squad members also discovered engines from five stolen vehicles.

The man will appear in the Wynberg magistrates court soon.
