Police in Knysna have arrested a 20-year-old woman for allegedly kidnapping her friend’s baby.
It is alleged that the suspect, who is a friend of the mother of the child, visited her at her Concordia home on Saturday afternoon and took the three-month-old baby under false pretenses and disappeared.
Police spokesperson, Chris Spies, said a search was launched which took the police to Kwanokuthula in Plettenberg Bay where the woman and the toddler were found at a Church on Sunday.
The woman was arrested by members of the George Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit and Knysna Detectives on a charge of kidnapping.
Spies said she would appear in the Knysna Magistrates soon.
The baby has been returned safely to the mother.
