Partially blind elderly woman killed by train at Heathfield Station, Cape Town

Local residents are alleging that the broken fence is to blame for the tragic incident.

On Saturday morning, a partially blind elderly woman was killed after being struck by a train at Heathfield Station in Cape Town. Pastor Charles White of the Eternal Flame church was on the scene when the incident occurred and said that the woman was rushing to Newlands to sell her feather dusters and brooms to support her family.

Community members claim the broken fence near the station is to blame, as they have been asking Prasa for years to repair it and the budget was allegedly allocated each year.

What can you do?

  • Reach out to Prasa to inquire about the broken fence and the budget allocated for its repair.
  • Organize a community meeting to discuss safety measures and public transport regulations in the area.
