One person has died while two others were rescued by National Sea Rescue Institute(NSRI) in Bakoven near Camps Bay.

Nine people were on the boat that is suspected to have capsized in the early hours of this morning.

A semi-submerged inflatable boat was located 2 nautical miles offshore of Mouille Point.

According to Craig Lambinon, NSRI spokesperson, the two men were recovered into an airforce helicopter and taken to hospital.

“Both men are being attended to by paramedics for severe hypothermia. The search operation is 3- fold. It includes the sea search, a shoreline search, and it includes investigations with family members to see if any of the persons purported to be missing may have got to shore and gone home.”
