The body of a 66-year old woman was found on the Waterfall hiking trail in Barrydale on Monday morning.
The woman went for a walk on Sunday and left her car in the parking lot for hikers near Rondomskrik in Barrydale at lunchtime.
When she did not return home later that evening, her husband reported her missing.
A search party was then dispatched that included the woman’s daughter who found the body.
The deceased body was badly injured.
Paramedics declared the victim dead on the scene.
An autopsy will be carried out to determine the exact cause of death.
The woman’s parked car was also stolen. It was later found abandoned behind a hill near the Tradouwhoek with the right front window shattered.
