The owners of play school Babbel & Krabbel, which is located in Melkbosstrand, Marius Pistorius (69) and is his wife, 63-year-old Annet Pistorius have been accused of child sexual abuse.

Accusations against the pair date back to as far as 2011. The most recent allegations date back to 2018.

Pistorius a suspected paedophile, has been dubbed ‘the Melkbos Monster’ following an exposé by News24.

Allegations against Marius and Annet include kidnapping and raping children between the ages of two to thirteen.

“Annet would run the Babbel & Krabbel play school in Melkbosstrand. Marius would allegedly show up during the school’s nap time; he would gain access to a girl or boy; he would take them to his house, sometimes penetrating them with his fingers, and sometimes forcing them to touch or masturbate him,” detailed the News24 report.

In 2011, a group of parents laid charges of sexual abuse against Marius.

A Cape Town social worker examined four children and found all four were sexually assaulted, nevertheless none of the cases were ever prosecuted.

National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Western Cape spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila, said there were a number of reasons the NPA chose not to prosecute based on the five dockets opened in 2011 and another two in 2019.

Another reason given is “the probability of the complainants being found to be competent witnesses – due to their ages…”

Marius and Annet Pistorius have since responded to the accusations publicly.
