Man arrested for selling abortion pills at fast food outlet: Strand Street

"Upon further searching of the suspect’s bag, 259 abortion tablets and 175 Adco tablets valued at R270,000 were also seized."

A foreign national was arrested for selling abortion pills at a fast food outlet in Strand Street.

The police were acting on a tip-off they received that various prescription tablets including Misoprostol an abortion tablet are being at the food outlet.

The man was arrested on Wednesday in an undercover operation, an undercover agent went in and bought the Misoprostol tablet for R1000.

Western Cape police spokesman FC van Wyk said “Upon further searching of the suspect’s bag, 259 abortion tablets and 175 Adco tablets valued at R270,000 were also seized.”

The man was charged with contravening the Medicines Control Act, he is expected to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
