A luxury Cape Town lodge Tintswalo Atlantic has been  damaged by fire for the second time in four years.

The lodge which is located at the foot of Chapman’s Peak Drive in Hout Bay, caught fire at 4am on Tuesday.

A Facebook post from the lodge said “At approximately 4am this morning management was notified that the main area of the lodge was on fire.

“It is at this time unknown as to how and where it started but the fire department is on site and we will post when we know the extent of the damage to our magnificent lodge.”

In March 2015 the lodge was damaged when a wildfire wiped out thousands of hectares of vegetation, destroyed 13 houses and claimed 2 lives.

Following the fire the lodge was rebuilt by owners Ernest and Gaye Corbett, and its 12 cliff-side cottages reopened eight months later.
