Baby found abandoned in Mossel Bay

A resident contacted the police after noticing a dog toying with something in the bushes.

KwaNonqaba Police have opened an inquest docket after the body of a baby boy was found abandoned in bushes on Monday.

A resident contacted the police after noticing a dog toying with something in the bushes.

“Upon investigation, the resident, who walked among bushes in the Mzola Street area realised that it was the body of a baby boy that may have been born sometime this past weekend,” Mossel Bay SAPS said in a statement.

Sector Commanders who responded to the call, found that the baby’s umbilical cord had been neatly severed.

The investigating officers, Sgt Dominique Deuster and WO Geoffery Moos (044 606 5600) request the community to assist with any information that may help with investigations.
