Minister Mkhize confirmed the latest figures while addressing the media at Bophelo House, Free State.
Minister Mkhize has urged leaders in society not to fear the coronavirus but to instead be realistic about it.
According to scientists an estimated 60% of the population will be affected by the virus at some point, but not all at the same time, stated Mkhize.
The Minister has urged the public to heed to the call to practice good hygiene as it is key in helping to fight new infections.
“It is not with testing one patient that the virus will be prevented…the numbers of people who have got the infection must not rise so rapidly that it will overwhelm our health system,” he added.
There are 11 new cases confirmed in the Western Cape as of Friday 20 March 2020.
